Mayor's Letter

Welcome to the official website for the Village of Anna, Ohio.

Anna is a family oriented community located in Shelby County along the I-75 corridor. The village has a population of approximately 1,400 people.

The Village of Anna was originally laid out by John W. Carey in 1858. Originally known as Carey’s Station the name was changed to Anna in honor of John Carey’s daughter. The village was incorporated in 1878.

Anna is probably best known for a series of earthquakes suffered in 1937. Known as the “Earthquake Capital of Ohio”, Anna and its residents have experienced more than 3 dozen earthquakes since its founding.

Today Anna is still a rural community even though the Honda Engine Plant is located only 2 miles from the village corporation. The residents are proud of their community and the Anna school system which makes Anna the Home of the Rockets!

Sincerely,

Julie L Ehemann
